Workers compensation billing

Our clinic has been getting more clients who have worker’s compensation and with the limited experience we have we know we spend quite a bit admin time trying to obtain info of where to send claims and what to send plus it’s sometimes difficult to get payment. We have a couple questions: 

1. can you collect  money up front from the client in case WC doesn’t pay  or is there a rule in workmen’s comp about this? 

2. can you bill the insurance and not use workmen’s comp or is their a rule against this?

Does anyone had links to resources about WC billing?

Newly Licensed Clinicians-Credentialing procedures

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone would be open to sharing what their policy/procedures are when a practitioner transitions to be becoming licensed and needs to start their credentialing applications.  For example, do you have a conversation with them about how the process works and its the expectation that they complete the applications on their own or do you have a packet of information/steps for them to follow. 


My goal is to have some type of process written but I dont want to do every step for them either so im looking for ideas on how other agencies/clinics handle this.  I know some places may have a designated person for this but Im a 1 man band over here so anything would help.

Optum - Adoption of CASII Clinical Criteria - Effective January 31, 2020

Hello - Does anyone know where Optum would like for us to submit the data on the information that we collect on the CASII's? This is effective today, January 31st. according to the September 2019 Newsletter and  it applies to most commercial and Medicaid programs.  Optum Provider relations do not have any information.  I have a message into my Optum Network Manager.  Does anyone else know anything?

Optum Peer to Peer Review Phone Calls

Has anyone else been receiving phone calls from Optum demanding to speak to their therapists directly in regards to doing peer to peer reviews on their clients?  

The phone calls have been taking approx 30 mins each for our therapists and the person calling is asking about clinical information for how we are providing therapy to our clients; all of which would be in our documentation.  When asked why they don't just ask for our documentation, they are told that it isn't about that and that it is more of a peer to peer thing.  Once the person that is calling gets all of the information about the case, they then review it with their team and call us back with their recommendations.  Basically informing us how to provide treatment to our clients. Doesn't seem like a very good use of our therapists time and we haven't had anything like this in the past, so just wondering if others are receiving these as well.
