Telehealth continues to evolve

Richard Sethre, Psy D , L P. 6 years ago in Telehealth updated by Alyson Zurek, LICSW 5 years ago 1

From the Center for Connected Health Policy, CMS just released new guidelines for telehealth, including some changes for what I prefer to call telehavioral services.

The guidelines include,

"Beginning July 1, 2019, the SUPPORT Act will add the enrollee’s home as an eligible originating site and remove the originating site geographic limitation on existing eligible telehealth originating sites (including the home) when treating for a substance use disorder or co-occurring mental health disorder through telehealth."

So, at least for SUD/co-occurring treatment, things are continuing to evolve.

How to Bill Telehealth Services to Medicare

John-Debbie Trunk 11 months ago in Telehealth updated by ahuseby 11 months ago 1

Does anyone bill telehealth services to Medicare? If so, what modifiers do you use and/or CPT codes and do you change the location to POS 2?

Thank you

Location of the Providing Therapist

Paula 2 years ago in Telehealth updated 2 years ago 6

Question?  I heard that therapists are no longer able to provide Telehealth, out of their home offices.  That they must return to the clinic address (location that is contracted with the insurance company)?  I cannot seem to find any information on this?  Is this a Federal mandate, a State mandate, a Licensing Board Mandate or just a clinic decision?  Do you know anything about this?

I know there is plenty of information on the Place/Location of the client, but I am specifically asking about the location/place of the actual provider?

Telephonic - Per MN DHS ending July 1, 2023

Paula 2 years ago in Telehealth updated 2 years ago 2

According to MN DHS Telehealth still includes telephonic (telephone/audio-only) services until July 1, 2023.  Many of our clinic therapists use telephonic services for their clients, who live in rural areas, especially those that do not have internet or may have an unstable internet signal.  It is hard to believe that telephone services would no longer be billable, due to the mental health crisis that our communities are still in.  Does anyone know anything more about this?  Is anyone else concerned about the end date?
